Priority Digital Health appoints PR partner

Fast-growth digital innovator Priority Digital Health has appointed PR and digital marketing agency Genesis as its communications partner to build its brand reputation with health commissioners and providers.

The leading-edge proprietary Priority Platform, which underpins the service offering by Priority Digital Health, is accredited by the NHS EMIS Health patient-management system and is already powering services to over 7 million UK patients.

The Cambridge-based firm’s focus is on disease prevention and health promotion and is transforming the way patients access primary care services online through effective self-referral and case management.

The Priority Platform is customised for healthcare partners and is designed for a superior patient experience in online referrals and bookings for healthcare appointments, empowering positive self-management of health and wellbeing as well as effective case management for healthcare providers.

Priority Digital Health’s unique full-service offering for healthcare partners including Primary Care Networks, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Local Authorities provides end-to-end design and delivery including branding and marketing the service for patients.

The company’s proven track record includes the successful Diabetes Book and Learn service platform which is enabling people living with Type 1 and 2 diabetes all over south London to book diabetes education courses that will help them manage their condition and potentially save the NHS millions of pounds.

Diabetes Book and Learn is currently in operation across 12 South London CCGs and links providers, who deliver the courses, with patients, giving them freedom of choice to attend those courses in areas near where they live.

Joint Chief Executive of Priority Digital Health, Alison Meadows, said: “These are exciting times for us and there is so much potential to offer services which are underpinned by cutting edge digital innovation and which can relieve the pressure on the health sector. “Genesis is highly experienced in delivering effective communications strategies for the health and wellbeing sector and will be working with us to ensure our bespoke services, underpinned by our digital platform, are put on the radar of Primary Care, CCGs, Local Authorities and public health providers throughout the country. They are going to play a vital role.”

Penny Arbuthnot, Director at Genesis PR, said: “We are delighted to be appointed by Priority Digital Health to build brand awareness and understanding of the exciting possibilities of their service offering in transforming how patients access, choose and control their health, social care and wellbeing services, driving behaviour change as well as efficiency for NHS and other healthcare providers.”

Ground breaking diabetes education booking platform

The Challenge

National audit data (2016) showed uptake of diabetes education is poor (8.3% of eligible adults with type 2 and 6.3% with type 1 diabetes). Barriers include poor healthcare unprofessional marketing, lack of choice (venue, date, type of course) and low motivation to prioritise health. In 2018 Health Innovation Network (HIN) coordinated a bid for transformation funding for diabetes education across 12 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), led by Southwark CCG.

A digital first approach

Taking a digital first approach, the Priority platform was deployed to deliver an online booking system covering 12 CCGs in south London connected to EMIS Health and in time, Vision Healthcare under the Diabetes Book & Learn brand – also created by PDH.

Pulling data from the patient record at point of referral and making it available to the education course providers, patients are able to book and attend any course of their choice safe in the knowledge that their data is secure and ready for the provider when they start their course.

And course providers are able to create, edit and manage their own courses through the platform from start to finish.

Results

Since launching on 1st September 2018 the Priority platform has been powering the integrated diabetes education booking service for south London – Diabetes Book & Learn, covering a population of 3.2m.

  • Patients are able to select a course anywhere in south London through the Priority Platform
  • 41% of patients select a course outside of their CCG
  • The platform has increased outcome reporting by 75%
  • 38% of patients self-manage their bookings entirely online saving administration time
  • Over 11,000 GP referrals since launch
  • 90% of all referrals resulted in a course booking
